The story of the young avant-garde artists who exhibited in the crypt of the former mariners' church, St Ives which had become the home and gallery of the St Ives Society of Artist's in the 1940s, Their three transformative exhibitions 1946 - 1948 were a precursor to the founding of the Penwith Society of Arts in 1949 and the rise of the St Ives Modern Movement. The Group included personalities who would later become legends in the art world including: Peter Lanyon, Sven Berlin, John Wells, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham and Bryan Wynter. Written by Peter Davies the book has a Foreword by Toni Carver and an Introduction by Chris Stephens
